30 Oct 2007 - Trip to Leicester Knighton

After a long trip up we eventually arrived at the B&B. Having settled in there we went down the road for enormous portions of fish and chips! Once we recovered it was down to the pool to meet up with our hosts and join in with their training session, then home to crash out.

The next day involved sight seeing, shopping, watching football (Leicester v Barnsley) and more eating before we all met up for our fun gala where Jim took charge and made the swimmers, in mixed teams with their new friends, do silly races (there was lots of cheating!) Then out to the disco where there was a fantastic spread of food and also a great band playing UB40. So we all danced the night away until very late.
Next day, thank goodness for that extra hour, it was off to Waterworld where everyone exhausted themselves sliding and swinging and generally having a great time, though a few people did find the shops and spend far too much money. Then home again for our last night when some of us found some rather good Indian food just up the road.
The last morning was bright and crisp when we had to say farewell to Leicester and our delighful hosts as they had to go back to school. Then it was off for the journey home. After many had had their morning nap! the time whizzed by when Jim taxed our brains with a quiz or two and presented the winners with prizes, which were soon eaten!

Enormous thanks to all involved and especially to Jim for taking charge and making sure we were all in the right place at the right time, and didn't get lost.
We have invited Leicester down for the August bank holiday 2008 and expect to see a good crowd of them. So check your diaries and keep that weekend free.
