Cornwall County Cup, Bodmin.
26th August 2003
Penzance 5 - 9 Newquay.
After one of the closest matches for a long time between these old rivals, Newquay once again, broke away in the final stages of the game to beat a spirited, and much improved Penzance side. Only managing to field 9 players due to injury and illness, Penzance kept the game extremely tight with a score of 4 -4 at half time. Unfortunately, some missed chances by Penzance, and some quick break away goals by Newquay in the third quarter, gave Newquay a lead, which Penzance failed to close. However, despite this loss, the Penzance side should be pleased with the way they played and will undoubtedly exact their revenge in future tournaments.
Well done to all the Penzance players, Joff Collins, Keith Hollis ( capt ), Anthony Stevenson, Ben May, James Baker, Neil Eddy, Nicky Brooks, Sean Hickman and Ruan Lapworth.
